Managing heavy weed infestations

Aleppo sorghum, creeping couch grass and hen’s-foot are perennial grasses that develop late in the spring. Conventional weed control solutions are inadequate or ineffective. The potential of these plots is altered, even in the case of moderate infestation, but what’s more, we see an increase in these very harmful weeds from year to year.
This is also the case with heavy infestations of PSD (Panicum, Foxtail, Crabgrass), particularly in no-till crops.
The very staggered emergence of these weeds requires 2 herbicide applications. However, the stage of the maize can pose a problem when it comes to applying the second pass. The results are not always as good as expected.

Our solution

It is a combination of a powerful anti-grass herbicide Stratos Ultra® and a range of hybrid maize resistant to this herbicide:
– We identify the plots with perennial grass and PFD problems that are difficult to control with conventional programmes.
– Choose a DUO System® variety suited to your farm.
– Stratos is incorporated into the post-emergence weed control programme.

Our expertise for your best

Cycloxydim resistance is a randomly discovered trait that appeared spontaneously in a single maize plant. RAGT has incorporated this trait into a range of maize varieties using conventional breeding methods.
This resistance trait is transmitted recessively, so both parental lines must carry the resistance gene.
Over the last 20 years, RAGT has acquired considerable expertise in this particularly complex and time-consuming selection process. Duo System maize varieties have a stable and reliable expression of resistance.
