RGT TOBBY

A high producing large leaf clover with excellent frost tolerance
Strengths

High producing large leaf white clover

Excellent frost tolerance through late winter and early spring frosts

Fixes free nitrogen and lifts grazing quality

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

RGT Tobby is a high-producing, large-leaf white clover bred for excellent frost tolerance. This reduces plant loss and maintains production through the stress of late autumn and early spring frosts, helping the plant recover strongly once conditions warm. Its large-leaf habit gives a high proportion of leaf to stem, delivering palatable, high-quality feed that drives intake and performance.

Including a white clover like RGT Tobby is fundamental to a productive pasture. Alongside its own high productivity, it lifts both the quantity and quality of grazing and feeds the surrounding grasses through nitrogen fixation. White clover can fix up to 30 kilograms of nitrogen per hectare for every 1,000 kilograms of dry matter grown. This makes RGT Tobby a reliable, cost-effective way to build pasture performance across dairy, sheep, and beef systems alike.

FARM SUITABILITY

Feed available

Strong spring and summer growth with very good cool season production, holding quality clover in the sward across more of the year than most large leaf types.

Stock suitability

Suitable for all stock classes, with its high protein, high energy feed especially valuable for young, growing and lactating animals.

Sowing rate

Sow at 2 to 4kg/ha in a grass seed pasture mix, lifting towards the top of the range for a higher clover content and more fixed nitrogen.
